The Titanic part two, a weekend with splashes

Canoeing, dining, a Crazy Scooter 88 and a KICnick! The Ascension Days were perfectly planned by the foreign travel committee. Miss Corona did her best again, so we couldn’t go to Prague. But! Why even go to Prague if you have the fantastic Groningen?

This became clear from day one. Everyone was divided into groups of about five people, who went canoeing in the beautiful Winsum with the nice weather. This not only required big muscles, but for some people also a swimming certificate! Although everyone blames Rafaël for the Titanic fiasco, a nice dive was not bad either.

Especially the group in the canoe that was behind the Titanic enjoyed it. Miguel in particular: “Now I finally see Rafaël wet. Also exciting.” With the song ‘Rampeneren’ playing in the background, they saw how the canoe adventure of Marit, Moise, Tirza, Aniek and Captain Rafaël turned into a minor disaster. Rafaël: “The boat suddenly filled with water. At that moment, I knew what was going to happen.”

After a lot of laughter, a water fight and putting on dry clothes, everyone got ready for the second activity of the day: the running dinner with a foreign touch! Fortunately, this time there was no water in the boat, but water in our mouth. Delicious international dishes could be found at various locations in Groningen, which everyone could visit on foot in groups of three. The locations themselves also had an international flavor. With names such as Casa Inventario, Château de la Digue, United States of Aniek, Sagrada da Cuervocampo and Riksja service Matso Matso, we were not taken abroad, but abroad came to us! For example, we got a baguette in France, a tequila shot in Mexico and delicious spring rolls in Thailand.

Also with the activity on Friday, nothing was too crazy. During the Crazy Scooter 88, the KIC’s could be spotted all over Groningen. But a Crazy 88 is of course not Crazy 88, if there is not an assignment that requires jumping into the water. Tom Eggens and Jort dared to do it and for Jort this was not for nothing! Together with Maja, Guus and Lois, he became the winner of this activity. Their achievement was rewarded with a delicious beer package that was presented during the KICnick in het Stadspark. The picnic, where everyone brought their own blanket, was a fantastic way to wind-up these two very pleasant days. A beer here, a Frisbee drinking game there, we can say with certainty that everyone is very grateful to the foreign travel committee for organizing this activity!
