KIC locked up???

KIC locked up???

What an evening full of joy during the escape room with all the participating groups. One group completely in panic mode and the other in full battle mode. A large part of KIC is still locked up, so to set them free, we will give the solutions and answers so they can finally escape.

The answer of the first document was the date from the beginning of the lustrum week. You could have unraveled this answer by finding the logo of the lustrum week, which was also engraved on the lock. Congratulations ladies and gentlemen, everyone passed this round! Surprisingly, we have to inform you that many KIC-members thought the lustrum week was in 2020, but the real lustrum week is in 2021.

The second document was a real brain teaser. The code of the treasurer’s safe had to be guessed. If you looked very closely, you could see that the T of treasurer, the M of master and the S of safe were capital letters. After this, you had to go to the budget and add up the numbers which are related with the words (which started with the same capital letters). From there, a code with three numbers gave you access to the next document. So sorry Miguel, you solved the sudoku for nothing…

Is this part new for you? Yes for me too! I didn’t come out of the previous document with my team as well. If your team did come to the last document it was just a matter of counting and deciphering. The deciphering went very well with most groups, when the tool 3 = A appeared. And then, the ‘unknown’ piece of paper. The trophy stands for the 1st place which the SACO hopes to win in the committee competition, the letter pattern for the word finder and the KIC sticker for the number of KIC stickers in the documents. There was more…  There was also a question mark that stands for the number that had to be calculated, a number pattern for the sudoku, a beer bottle for the number of bottles at the office and the calendar was related to the date of the escape room; which was day seven on the calendar. The pictures were a bit difficult but the adding up from the last number could have been a huge help. The American flag stood for the legal drinking age in America. The pumpkin was related to Sint-Maarten, which is celebrated in The Netherlands on the 11th of November.. And finally the rebus followed. If you would convert the numbers into letters you would find YLLUBNETSIP and when you read the word backwards it said: PISTENBULLY, which was related to the winter sports trip. Can you hear Jorrit explaining the answers already? As if it was all so easy...

In the end, team 4 was the fastest to free themselves. Teams 2 and 6 both claimed second place by escaping at the same time, followed by team 5. All the other teams are still locked up. We may have been stuck in this escape room for a couple of weeks but it was worth it, because it was so much fun!
