Feeling like a fish in the water

Feeling like a fish in the water

On Wednesday evening, the 28th of October, it was time for a new event. The active members of KIC awaited an event in which they had to put aside their shame and self-esteem for a while. The game ‘Route 050’ had been planned by the board, consisting of a physical part and an online part. During the physical part, the participators did a ‘Crazy 88. Afterwards the online part followed, consisting of an online pub quiz in which everybody proved their intelligence.

The members were divided into different groups with about four people in each group and everybody began the route at a different location. Each group got assignments where they could earn points and assignments where they could earn letters; in total there were fifty assignments. The letters eventually formed an online link, which had to be used for the online part of the evening.

After the game was explained, each group was given a raw egg. Although we thought at first that Miguel just wanted to get rid of his eggs, later it became clear what we had to do with the eggs. For example, in the last fifteen minutes of the game you earned five points when you had sent a picture of the egg with a description of how the egg was doing.

The amount of points given per assignment depended on the extremity. The assignment that contained the most points was ‘Jump into the canal and film this’. Many people didn’t even consider jumping in the canal for this assignment. Daan on the other hand, felt like ‘a fish in the water’. This way, the physical part of the activity ended with a splash and everyone entered the online part full of courage.

After everyone was warmed up again, the pub quiz began. Each group could decide for themselves whether they wanted to watch the pub quiz separately or in small groups at someone’s house. While enjoying a drink, we cracked our brains about questions like: How many percent of women hates her mother-in-law? And, which actor didn’t get corona?

This pub quiz was presented by Miguel and Eva. They were supported by the rest of the board. Weiwei and Flores were responsible for the scoring and Tom was the man behind the screens. The pub quiz was well supported with beautiful animations and nice jokes. The interaction in the group app made it feel like you were together.

In short, an evening full of fanatics. But, of course there can only be one winner. Luckily his dive into the canals wasn’t for nothing. Daan and his team were the big winners of the evening. What they won remained a surprise and it is still a surprise up to the present day.
