Active members weekend

By train, bus, car or skateboard every active member found his or her own way to get from 050 to the beautiful Appelscha in Friesland where on June 15 the active members weekend of KIC started.

After everyone had chosen their own sleeping place and dressed in the relevant "Holland" sub theme of their team, it was time for a game of flunkyball. While some were able to keep their beer neatly above their heads without getting wet, others had a poorer judgment and allowed half the beer to drain over their heads. After playing a few games, almost everyone had arrived by now and a wonderfully clear explanation from our coordinator internal affairs Maja, it was time to battle against each other during ‘quadcamp’.

Twister, who am I, a blind maze, a parcours and a few team snaps later, we still do not know today which team won the quadcamp. That aside, it was an afternoon full of fun, fanaticism and beer. In other words, a perfect afternoon for KIC.

After having burned a lot of calories during quadcamp, they had to eat again and that was perfectly possible with the delicious dinner that Sylvester and Olaf served us.

Afterwards, sitting in a circle outside, the beautiful almanac was handed out and everyone had the opportunity to write in each other’s almanac with sweet, funny and praising stories. Next it was the turn of our dear Maja who had written a piece about every active member in her speech. The tears just barely rolled down the cheeks but the yellow liquid easily slid into our throats.

For one committee more exciting than for the other, the time came for the committee competition results. The result was as follows: the social activities committee and we (the editorial committee) were in the same position and of course this had to be resolved. I (Geja) and Daan were allowed to come forward to decide the game. A few minutes later and our mouths stuffed with marshmallows, whereupon the words 'chubby KIC-er' came out, I honestly but with trouble admit it, the social activities committee has taken the cup.

After a few hours, many drinks, walks in the forest, pleasant conversations and snacks, everyone had found his bed again to be able to dream about this wonderful day. On Sundays there had to be a little cleaning done, after which everyone could calmly leave for the old familiar 050.

Maja, me and I think the rest of the KIC members would like to thank you for this great weekend!
